Springtime in Denver brings warmer weather, blooming landscapes, and the perfect opportunity to explore the great outdoors with your furry friend. Denver is renowned for its pet-friendly attitude, offering an abundance of spaces where pets are more than welcome. From sprawling dog parks to scenic trails and cozy cafes, there's no shortage of adventures waiting for you and your pet this spring. Here’s your go-to guide for pet-friendly activities in Denver.

Off-Leash Dog Parks

  • Cherry Creek State Park Dog Off-Leash Area (DOLA): Offering 107 acres of open space, this off-leash area is a paradise for dogs. With water access for a splash in the creek and plenty of trails, it’s a fantastic spot for a day out. Remember to purchase a day or annual pass.

  • Railyard Dog Park: Located in the heart of the Denver, this park offers a large, fully enclosed area for dogs to run free. The surface is mainly sand, which helps keep your pets clean after a fun day out.

  • Greenway Dog Park: Known for its friendly community and spacious area, this is a great place for dogs to socialize. It’s mostly dirt, so be prepared for a bit of mud during the spring thaw.

Scenic Trails

  • Bear Creek Dog Park: Explore the beautiful trails with your leashed pet at this expansive park. With areas for dogs to play in the water and wide trails, it’s perfect for an active day out. It's a bit of a drive from Denver, but your pup will think it was worth the trip!

  • Sloan’s Lake Park: Take a leisurely walk around Sloan’s Lake and enjoy the stunning views of the Denver skyline. Dogs must be kept on a leash, but the wide paths make for a comfortable stroll.

  • High Line Canal Trail: Offering more than 70 miles of trails, this is a great spot for long walks or runs with your dog. The trail passes through various parks where you can take breaks and enjoy nature together. Make sure to keep your dog leashed!

Pet-Friendly Cafes

  • Denver Cat Company: While not for dogs, this is a must-visit for pet lovers. Enjoy a coffee while socializing with the resident cats. It’s a cozy spot for those looking to enjoy a lazy afternoon. Maybe you'll adopt a new kitty while you're there!

  • Highlands Cork & Cafe: Their menu features items named after favorite pets. Let your pups socialize on the patio while you socialize with a drink and some yummy food!

  • Just Be Kitchen: Both pet and allergen friendly, if you have any dietary restrictions make sure to check this place out!

Tips for Spring Outings with Your Pet

  • Always bring water and a bowl for your pet to stay hydrated. Have you seen these
  • Keep up-to-date with vaccinations and ensure your pet is protected against heartworm and ticks. Fleas  rarely infect pets in Colorado due to the dry climate. One less thing to worry about!
  • Respect leash laws in certain areas and remember to pick up after your pet.
  • Check the weather and avoid the hottest parts of the day to prevent overheating and burning those little paws

Spring in Denver is a fantastic time to bond with your pet and explore the beauty of the city together. Whether you’re roaming free in an off-leash park, trekking scenic trails, or relaxing in a pet-friendly cafe, Denver offers endless opportunities for pet-friendly adventures. So leash up, grab some treats, and set off on a spring adventure that both you and your pet will love.
